The finest professional clarinet mouthpieces
are made of hard rubber, which produces a warm, resonant and
focused sound. The proper mouthpiece will enable the player to
achieve superb response and articulation.
The tip opening is the distance between
the tip of the reed and the tip of the opening. The narrower
the tip opening the more resistant to airflow the mouthpiece
will be. Narrower tip openings need less control to play and
have a darker, rounder, and more centered tone.
